Primary Service
Plasma Ion Nitriding
Plasma ion nitriding is a controlled diffusion process used to improve the surface properties of steel components. Rather than applying a separate coating, the process changes the surface of the material itself.
Plasma nitriding can improve surface hardness, wear resistance, and fatigue performance with minimal dimensional change. Because there is no conventional coating layer, there is no added surface build-up that can collect in critical areas.
FNC
Plasma Ferritic Nitrocarburizing
Plasma ferritic nitrocarburizing, commonly called plasma FNC, is used to increase surface carbon in certain non-alloyed and low-carbon steels.
The process uses a methane-enhanced gas blend and an approximate processing temperature of 570°C to improve hardenability. Materials commonly associated with this process include 1018, 1020, 1026, and 1040 steels.
Post-Treatment
Plasox® Treatment
Plasox® is a post-plasma oxidation treatment designed to improve corrosion protection after plasma nitriding or plasma ferritic nitrocarburizing.
The treatment provides added corrosion performance without applying a conventional coating layer. This helps preserve critical dimensions while avoiding the flaking, chipping, or surface build-up associated with some plated or coated finishes.
